Massive Russian Missile and Drone Attack Hits Ukraine, Strikes NATO Airspace
Russia launched over 200 missiles and drones at Ukraine, killing seven and targeting energy infrastructure. The attacks led to nationwide power and water outages. Polish authorities are investigating the incursion of a drone into their airspace. Ukraine's President called for allied support in defense measures.
Russia unleashed a barrage of over 200 missiles and drones on Ukraine, resulting in seven casualties and severely damaging energy infrastructure nationwide, according to Kyiv authorities. These strikes interrupted power and water supplies in several regions, including Kyiv, during what officials described as one of the most massive attacks in the ongoing war.
Poland, a NATO member, reported a probable airspace violation by a drone. Jacek Goryszewski, a spokesperson for the Polish army, indicated that the object's speed and trajectory pointed to it being a drone rather than a missile. This incident has prompted a thorough search in Polish territory.
In the aftermath, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy renewed calls for international support to bolster the country's air defense capabilities. He emphasized the urgent need for long-range weapons and tactics to counteract and preempt such attacks. Meanwhile, 15 Ukrainian regions reported significant damage, and various civilian facilities were also hit, marking another grim chapter in the conflict.
