Two policemen were killed and another injured in an early morning attack by unidentified assailants in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials reported.
The attack, which occurred in Daraban Kalan in Dera Ismail Khan district on the border of South Waziristan, saw the assailants managing to escape as police launched a search operation.
Splinter groups of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are known to be active in the area, targeting security forces. The province's chief minister condemned the attack, calling for swift justice.
