A scuffle erupted between Shiv Sena (UBT) and BJP workers in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Monday. The clash followed BJP protests against Aaditya Thackeray's visit to the city, resulting in a confrontation in front of the Rama Hotel where Thackeray was staying. Police intervened, resorting to mild lathi charge to control the situation.

Aaditya Thackeray, on a two-day tour of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, has been actively campaigning for the upcoming Maharashtra General Assembly elections. His supporters had previously protested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Aurangabad, prompting BJP workers to respond with loud slogans, which eventually led to the altercation.

The forthcoming Maharashtra legislative assembly elections will involve 288 constituencies. While dates are yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India, the elections will see a contest between the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance (comprised of Shiv Sena UBT, NCP Sharad Pawar faction, and Congress) and the Maha Yuti Alliance (including BJP, Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde faction, and NCP Ajit Pawar faction).

The recent Lok Sabha elections have strengthened the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, with the alliance securing 30 seats in total. Conversely, the Mahayuti alliance faced a significant setback, securing only 17 seats across BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP factions.
