The Indian Naval Ship (INS) 'Mumbai' will dock at the port of Colombo for a three-day visit starting Monday, according to the Indian High Commission.

As the Indian Navy's premier warship, INS Mumbai will receive a ceremonial welcome from the Sri Lanka Navy. This marks the ship's inaugural visit to any Sri Lankan port and the eighth port call by Indian vessels this year.

During its stay, INS Mumbai will carry essential spares for the Sri Lanka Airforce's Dornier maritime patrol aircraft, which has been key for surveillance in the region. The Indian Navy also aids in the aircraft's maintenance and provides specialized training for its pilots and navigators. The visit involves joint activities and a familiarization tour to foster best practices between the navies.

The ship will depart on August 29. Previous visits this year include INS Kabra, Karanj, Kamorta, and Shalki, as well as Indian Coast Guard ships Samarth, Abhinav, and Sachet.
