The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessel Sujay, accompanied by its integral helicopter, arrived at Incheon, South Korea, on September 4, 2024, as part of its ongoing overseas deployment to East Asia. The visit, scheduled for four days, is marked by a series of professional interactions between the ICG crew and their counterparts from the Korea Coast Guard (KCG), with a focus on critical areas such as Marine Pollution Response, Maritime Search and Rescue, and Maritime Law Enforcement.

During the visit, the ICG and KCG will engage in various collaborative activities, including cross-deck training, joint yoga sessions, friendly sports events, and Passage Exercises. These activities aim to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen the operational synergy between the two coast guard agencies.

A notable aspect of the visit is the participation of 10 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets aboard the ICG Ship Sujay in an Environment Protection Walkathon. This event, organized in collaboration with local youth organizations, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of marine plastic pollution. The initiative aligns with the Indian Government’s 'Puneet Sagar Abhiyan,' a campaign focused on combating marine pollution and enhancing international outreach.

The port call of ICG Ship Sujay coincides with the 20th Head of Coast Guard Agency Meeting in Incheon, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to addressing contemporary maritime challenges for the global good. The visit also reflects the strong maritime cooperation between India and South Korea, further institutionalized by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the ICG and KCG on March 13, 2006.

Prior to its arrival in Incheon, ICG Ship Sujay made a port call in Jakarta, Indonesia, showcasing the ICG's ongoing diplomatic maritime engagements in the region. The seamless continuation of these engagements highlights India's commitment to fostering strong maritime ties with its East Asian neighbors.
