Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled the Subhadra Yojana, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering over one crore women in the state. With an annual financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per beneficiary, the scheme is set to run from the 2024-25 fiscal through to 2028-29, boasting a massive budget of Rs 55,825 crore.
Announced in the Assembly following Cabinet approval, the initiative targets women aged 21 to 60. The financial support will be disbursed in two installments—one on Rakhi Purnima and the other on International Women's Day.
Promoting transparency, the funds will be directly deposited into beneficiaries' Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts. The scheme also incentivizes digital transactions, offering additional Rs 500 to top transactors in each local body.
