The Delhi High Court has issued several directives concerning petitions for admission under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) quotas in Delhi private schools. Highlighting the importance of equal educational opportunities, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma emphasized that children from disadvantaged groups should not accept educational inequalities as their fate.

To facilitate this, schools are now required to appoint dedicated nodal officers to manage EWS/DG admissions. Additionally, all relevant communications must be available in both English and Hindi, and schools must provide clear schedules for admission reporting.

The Court identified the lack of a seamless transition between Junior and Senior Wings within the same school as a significant challenge. It mandated the synchronization of School IDs and emphasized the necessity of treating all students equally under the Right to Education Act. The Court stressed that discrimination against children from the EWS/DG category undermines their self-esteem and perpetuates educational inequality.
