Labour Ministry Reports 21.67 Lakh New ESI Enrollments in June 2024

The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment announced that 21.67 lakh new employees joined the Employees' State Insurance Corporation Scheme in June 2024. Notably, 13,483 new establishments were also included. The report indicates a 7% year-on-year growth in net registrations with significant young and female worker participation.

The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment reported on Thursday that 21.67 lakh new employees were enrolled in the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Scheme in June 2024, based on provisional payroll data. The ministry also noted that 13,483 new establishments were integrated into the social security framework of the ESI Scheme, thereby extending social security to a larger workforce.

A year-on-year analysis revealed a 7% growth in net registrations compared to June 2023. It is evident from the data that of the 21.67 lakh employees added during the month, 10.58 lakh, or approximately 49%, belong to the age group of up to 25 years.

In gender-related observations, the data indicated that net enrolment of female members stood at 4.32 lakh in June 2024. Moreover, 55 transgender employees were also registered under the ESI Scheme in the same month, reflecting ESIC's commitment to inclusive social security. The payroll data is provisional due to the ongoing nature of data collection (ANI).
