Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo inaugurated the e-Chasa mobile application and portal on Thursday, ushering in a new era of digital agriculture in the state. This cutting-edge initiative aims to conduct a comprehensive digital crop survey across Odisha, providing precise data for future agricultural policies.

With approx. 48 lakh farmers set to benefit, the e-Chasa app and portal will serve as a one-stop platform for comprehensive, weather-independent crop-related data. 'Odisha is the first state to implement a digital survey policy in agriculture,' noted Singhdeo, emphasizing the initiative's pioneering nature.

Initially piloted in 2023 across Bhadrak, Deogarh, Nuapada, and Nayagarh districts, the survey now covers the entire state, targeting around 3 crore plots of farmland. The deployment involves 28,000 surveyors, 8,000 supervisors, and 1,400 inspectors. Farmers can report issues and receive guidance via the helpline at 155333, according to department principal secretary Arabinda Padhee.
