Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb of Pakistan declared on Thursday that macroeconomic stability is beginning to take root in the nation's economy.

Aurangzeb's remarks came during the launch ceremony of the Buna-Raast connectivity project in Islamabad. This initiative connects Pakistan's digital payment system, Raast, with Buna, established by the Arab Monetary Fund. Aurangzeb pointed to a reduced current account deficit, a stabilized currency, and bolstered foreign reserves as indicators of recovery, according to The Express Tribune.

Furthermore, the finance minister cited an upgrade in sovereign ratings and a significant increase in remittances, with $3 billion received in July, as evidence of revived economic confidence among overseas Pakistanis. He asserted that the government's infrastructural reforms are producing positive results, though challenges remain.

Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of the Buna-Raast project in advancing digitalization, enhancing transparency in remittances, taxation, and the power sector, and aligning with FATF requirements. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the project, noting its potential to streamline remittances from the Arab world and strengthen historical ties digitally.

Prime Minister Sharif hinted at an upcoming five-year homegrown economic program aimed at boosting various sectors, including agriculture and IT, developed after extensive consultations with stakeholders.
