Iran's parliament has given the nod to President Masoud Pezeshkian's 19 ministers, emphasizing a blend of reformist and consensus-driven personalities. The state media reported the approval on Wednesday, marking a shift from former President Ebrahim Raisi's hardline approach.
Notably, Health Minister Mohammadreza Zafarqandi secured his post despite obtaining the fewest votes. Farzaneh Sadeq made history as the second female cabinet minister since 1979, now helming the roads and transportation portfolio. Meanwhile, Mohsen Paknejad, a veteran in hydrocarbon resources, has taken the reins as the oil minister, vowing to boost oil production.
In the realm of foreign policy, Abbas Araqchi, with 247 votes, reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to lifting sanctions and fostering regional diplomacy. He emphasized continuing good neighborliness and managing conflicts, though relations with Europe and the U.S. remain conditional.
