Sembcorp to Establish Rs 36,238 Crore Green Ammonia Plant in Tamil Nadu
Singapore's Sembcorp Industries is set to establish a green ammonia plant in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 36,238 crore. The project, supported by the Tamil Nadu government and multiple international partners, aims to produce 2 lakh metric tonnes of green ammonia annually and create 1,511 jobs.

Singapore-headquartered Sembcorp Industries, a leading energy and urban solutions provider, announced its plans to set up a green ammonia plant in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 36,238 crore.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin during the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave. The plant is expected to generate 1,511 jobs, according to officials.
Sembcorp Industries had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu government during the Global Investors Meet in January 2024 to establish the green ammonia facility in Tuticorin.
