The Independence Day celebration in Chhattisgarh's Mungeli district has taken social media by storm after a video surfaced showing a pigeon, released by the Superintendent of Police, failing to take flight. The video quickly went viral, with netizens drawing parallels to a scene from the popular web series 'Panchayat' season 3.
The officer has since called for disciplinary action against those responsible for the mishap. During the Independence Day event, BJP MLA and former minister Punnulal Mohle, Collector Rahul Deo, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Girija Shankar Jaiswal participated in the symbolic release of pigeons, representing peace and freedom.
While the pigeon released by the MLA took off successfully, the one released by the SP plummeted to the ground. In a formal letter to the Collector, the SP demanded accountability, stating that the sick pigeon should not have been presented for a national event. The letter emphasized that a preparatory meeting assigned clear responsibilities to department heads, suggesting that the mishap was due to negligence.
