The unrest intensified when police had to use lathi-charge and tear gas to disperse the enraged crowds that had gathered at the Badlapur railway station.
Government Railway Police (GRP) Commissioner Ravindra Shisve confirmed that the train tracks have been cleared and a report has been sent to railway operations to resume services. Earlier, stone-pelting protesters targeted the school where the crime occurred, prompting police intervention after the situation escalated.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the incident and announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the inquiry. Fadnavis has ordered the immediate suspension of several officers who delayed taking action. The community continues to demand justice as police work to maintain order.
