The last rites of the Udaipur knife attack victim were carried out on Tuesday amid heavy security to prevent any law-and-order disturbances. BJP MLA Tarachand Jain condoled the death of the class 10 student and appealed to the public to maintain peace. Jain assured that the victim's family would receive full security and financial compensation.
The grieving father of the deceased demanded strict punishment for the perpetrator, labeling the attack as premeditated. Community members echoed the demand for harsher penalties and criticized the current juvenile punishment guidelines. They also called for immediate suspension of the school administration.
In response to the incident, the Rajasthan Congress formed a four-member committee to investigate the death. The committee includes Congress MP Bhajanlal Jatav, Udaipur Congress leader Tarachand Meena, former minister Uday Lal Anjana, and Rampal Jat. The team is set to meet the victim's family while probing the circumstances of the attack.
The incident has already sparked protests, with some groups vandalizing shops and setting vehicles ablaze. As a precaution, the Udaipur district administration imposed restrictions and suspended internet services for 24 hours following communal violence.
