Union Minister Celebrates Raksha Bandhan with Ministry Staff

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal celebrated the traditional Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan by sharing the occasion with female staff members of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways on Monday. During the celebration, the female employees tied Rakhis to the Minister's wrist, symbolizing the love and protection between brothers and sisters.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, employees from various departments including Sagarmala Development Company Limited, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), and young professionals also participated in the event by tying Rakhis to the Union Minister. Sonowal expressed his joy in being part of this cherished celebration, stating that it reinforced the bond within the Ministry, making them feel like one family.

Employees expressed their heartfelt sentiments, with one noting the gesture's potential to extend across all departments. Another employee, whose brother is abroad, found solace in tying a Rakhi to the Minister, seeing him as a brother. Sonowal conveyed his gratitude and extended his best wishes to everyone on Raksha Bandhan. Earlier, he posted a festive greeting on X, wishing for the everlasting bond of love and protection among siblings. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu also shared their greetings on this auspicious occasion, celebrating the bond between siblings and wishing for everyone's prosperity and well-being.
