CBI Records Digital Blueprint of RG Kar Medical College Amid Protests

The CBI team arrived at RG Kar Medical College to create a digital blueprint of the site where a trainee doctor was raped and murdered. Protests by medical professionals continue nationwide, with doctors in Delhi and Hyderabad staging demonstrations and a 12-hour strike in Siliguri called by the SUCI(C).

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrived on Friday afternoon at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, to record a digital blueprint of the area where a trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered. The team employed a high-accuracy 3D laser scanner for this purpose.

Earlier on Friday, four doctors from RG Kar Medical College were summoned by the CBI for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. According to sources, these doctors were interrogated to gather more details about the night of the crime.

Accused Sanjoy Roy was taken from the CBI Special Crime Branch in Kolkata's CGO Complex for a medical examination. Nationwide, doctors have intensified protests. Junior doctors and medical students at Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, staged protests, and similar actions were observed at RML Hospital in Delhi. The Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) called for a 12-hour general strike in Siliguri.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) announced a nationwide withdrawal of services starting 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, lasting until 6 a.m. on Sunday. On August 14, a mob of 5,000 to 7,000 individuals invaded RG Kar Hospital, attacked doctors and students, and attempted ransacking the premises.

The case has generated widespread outrage and led to a series of strikes and protests across the country after the heinous incident on August 9 when a postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College.
