In a major push towards a sustainable future, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared on Wednesday that the state has struck a deal to install solar panels on all government buildings by the end of 2025.

The agreement, made between the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (NREDCAP) and NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN), is part of broader efforts to adhere to guidelines set forth by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

Naidu emphasized on X that switching to solar energy will yield significant savings and reduce carbon emissions. The 25-year agreement is projected to save the state Rs 118 crore annually and cut 3.41 lakh metric tons of carbon emissions each year.

Overall, the initiative is expected to save Rs 2,957 crore and reduce carbon emissions by 85.25 lakh metric tons over the next quarter-century.
