In a heated debate over the Union Budget 2024-25, Congress MP Amar Singh criticized the government for ignoring the concerns of the salaried and middle classes. Singh claimed the Budget fails to address unemployment, and argued it disproportionately favors the wealthy while taxing the poor. He pointed out the disparity between individual and corporate taxes, suggesting that the Income Tax exemptions up to Rs 5 lakh should be increased to boost public consumption.

Singh also questioned the efficacy of corporate concessions in generating jobs and highlighted the need for significant employment generation in the non-farm sector to meet the rising workforce demands. He cited a CRISIL report indicating a decline in household savings and financial hardships faced by people due to high liabilities and inflation.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, however, welcomed the Budget, describing it as 'historic' and a step towards a developed India by 2047. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, asserting that the proposed abolition of angel tax will foster employment. Dubey also attacked the Congress for its stance on caste census and reservations.
