Authorities Seize 11 Overloaded Lorries in Warangal

In a significant clampdown, the Vigilance and Enforcement wing in Warangal, Telangana, teamed up with the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), the Mines Department, and the State Tax Departments to conduct a surprise check on the intervening nights of Friday and Saturday.

During the operation at Komatapally Toll Gate, Hasanparthy Mandal, authorities seized 11 lorries for overloading and various road transport violations. The seized vehicles included seven lorries with sand, two carrying flyash, one with dolomite, and one loaded with granite blocks.

Officials reported that the lorries were seized due to overloading of materials like sand, flyash, and granite blocks, with one lorry also lacking a transit form for its dolomite load. Cases under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles (MV) (Amendment) Act, 1988, and the Mines and Mineral Development Regulation Act, 1957, have been registered against the lorry owners, who face a total fine of Rs 3.75 lakh.
