Vice President Dhankhar Joins 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' Campaign in Delhi

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh, along with Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and his spouse, participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' sapling plantation drive at the ASITA ecological site along the Yamuna River in Delhi. Launched by PM Modi, the campaign honors mothers through tree planting.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign by planting saplings at the ASITA ecological site along the Yamuna River in Delhi on Saturday. The campaign, aimed at honoring mothers through tree planting, saw the presence of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and his wife Sangita Saxena.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative on June 5, World Environment Day, urging citizens to plant saplings as a tribute to their mothers. He encouraged participants to share pictures of their tree planting efforts on social media using the hashtag #Plant4Mother. 'I call upon everyone, in India and around the world, to plant a tree in the coming days as a tribute to your mother. Do share a picture of you doing so using #Plant4Mother,' PM stated in a post on X.

Earlier this month, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) spearheaded a city-wide plantation drive under the campaign, targeting the planting of 11 lakh plants, including 94,000 trees and 10 lakh shrubs for the financial year 2024-25. As of now, DDA has achieved 55 percent of its target, planting approximately 605,109 trees and shrubs. With Delhi's green cover spanning over 21,552 acres, DDA aims to support the optimal survival of these saplings through dedicated nurturing efforts.
