According to defence sources, the BAT team that orchestrated the attack is suspected of comprising regular Pakistani Army troopers, including Special Services Group (SSG) commandos, who frequently collaborate with terrorist organizations. The Indian Army's prompt response ensured that all injured personnel were evacuated for medical treatment.

The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army reported the exchange of fire with unidentified individuals at a forward post in Kamkari, Macchal Sector along the LoC.
