In alignment with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s principles of "Working with the nation as a whole approach and breaking silos," the Ministry of Coal is working closely with the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Power, and other relevant departments to ensure a steady supply of coal at regulated prices for the Power and Fertilizer sectors. This effort also includes crucial non-regulated sectors such as Steel, Cement, Paper, and Sponge Iron, which are integral to the country's economic growth.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, the Ministry of Coal has set an ambitious coal production target of 1,080 million tonnes (MT). As of July 19, 2024, coal production has reached 294.20 MT, marking a significant growth of 10.70% compared to the same period last year, when production was 265.77 MT. This increase reflects the Ministry’s dedication to meeting the energy needs of various sectors while promoting sustainable economic development.
