Harvey Weinstein Undergoes Emergency Heart Surgery Amid New Legal Challenges
Former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, 72, had emergency heart surgery at Bellevue Hospital in NYC. Weinstein, plagued by severe medical conditions, has been in and out of the hospital while facing numerous legal challenges. A retrial is scheduled, and new sex assault charges are under consideration.

Harvey Weinstein, the former movie mogul now infamously linked to the #MeToo movement, underwent emergency heart surgery at Bellevue Hospital in New York City on Monday, according to his representatives.
Weinstein, 72, was transferred from Rikers Island jail to the hospital late Sunday due to severe medical conditions, publicist Juda Engelmayer and prison consultant Craig Rothfeld confirmed. They disclosed, 'We can confirm that Mr. Weinstein had a procedure and surgery on his heart today,' yet declined to provide further details on his condition.
This isn't Weinstein's first hospital visit since an appeals court overturned his 2020 rape and sexual assault convictions in April. In July, he received treatment for COVID-19 and pneumonia, among other ailments. Concurrently, prosecutors are presenting new evidence to a grand jury to potentially charge Weinstein with three additional sex assaults, while British prosecutors recently dropped two indecent assault charges for lack of a realistic prospect of conviction. Weinstein remains in custody, denying all allegations, with a retrial set for Nov. 12 and a pretrial hearing on Sept. 12.
