The Union Budget 2024 has been lauded by former Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, and BJP leader, V Muraleedharan for its substantial benefits to Kerala. Muraleedharan pointed out that the central government has allocated Rs 1.5 lakh crore in interest-free loans to Kerala, significantly bolstering the state's infrastructure development.

He emphasized, "Several schemes have been announced for Kerala. The infrastructure development fund, which is an interest-free loan with a 50-year repayment period, will greatly benefit Kerala. This is a substantial relief compared to the high-interest loans previously managed through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIFFBI)."

Muraleedharan further detailed that in addition to the Rs 1.5 lakh crore for infrastructure, the agricultural sector will receive Rs 1.52 lakh crore, while rural development gets Rs 2.66 lakh crore. He also highlighted innovative schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which promises free electricity through subsidized solar panel installations.

The Union Budget 2024-25 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 23 outlined nine priority areas aimed at driving economic growth, including productivity in agriculture, employment and skilling, human resource development, social justice, manufacturing, urban development, energy security, infrastructure, and innovation.
