In a bid to significantly boost Gujarat's green cover, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has expanded the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign into a mass public movement. The initiative aims to plant 12.20 crore trees across the state by September 2024, with a broader target of reaching 17 crore trees by March 2025.

The campaign, originally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, June 5, encourages people to plant trees in honor of their mothers or as a tribute to motherhood. Aligning with the Prime Minister's vision for sustainable development, CM Patel is leveraging community involvement to achieve these ambitious green goals.

During a high-level meeting with the state forest department, CM Patel announced detailed plans for the campaign's statewide execution. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is set to contribute significantly by planting 30 lakh trees in 100 days under its 'Mission Three Million Trees' initiative. The campaign will also extend to taluka and village levels, distributing 10.50 crore saplings during the upcoming 75th Van Mahotsav celebrations.
