In a significant development, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2024-25 today, marking her seventh consecutive budget presentation, and furthering the agenda of PM Modi's 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'. Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary emphasized this guiding principle ahead of the budget announcement.
High-ranking officials including Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, Vivek Joshi, and Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran, joined Chaudhary in reaching the North Block offices of the Finance Ministry ahead of the presentation. The budget is likely to address key issues such as income tax reforms and enhancing the ease of doing business in India.
Sitharaman's budget presentation today officially surpasses the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai. Alongside the budget, the Economic Survey 2023-24, which projects a conservative 6.5-7% GDP growth for the upcoming fiscal year, in contrast to the impressive 8.2% growth reported for 2023-24, was tabled in Parliament on Monday.
