Punjab's power utility, PSPCL, met a record electricity demand of 3,626 lakh units on July 16, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh announced on Wednesday.

The surge in demand is attributed to the humid weather conditions, leading to increased electricity consumption in domestic, irrigation, and industrial sectors.

Previously, PSPCL had supplied a record 3,563 lakh units on June 23. Singh credited this new record to strategic planning and efficient resource management, emphasizing the full utilization of resources within and outside the state to ensure a stable power supply.
