The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) and the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, announced on Wednesday the successful conclusion of their Distribution Network Efficiency Improvement Pilot Programme. Conducted in partnership with GIZ and RTI International, this initiative marks a major milestone in improving the state's power distribution network's efficiency and reliability.

Biswajit Basu, Managing Director of TSECL, and Abhishek Singh, IAS, Secretary Power, Government of Tripura, expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for the programme's outcomes. Launched in the Khowai Electrical Circle, the pilot aimed to boost operational efficiency, reduce losses, and enhance service quality, aligning with the Indo-German Energy Programme on Energy Transition with DISCOMs. The programme was implemented in Khowai Circle, a region known for high Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses.

Basu stated that the pilot's success underscores their dedication to modernising Tripura's power distribution infrastructure. He highlighted the innovative contributions from GIZ and RTI International, which provided valuable tools and knowledge for further improving operations, reducing losses, and enhancing service quality. He also emphasized the importance of involving consumers to reduce billing issues. Capacity building is crucial, involving continuous training and development to ensure employees stay updated with technological advancements, leading to better performance and job satisfaction.

Abhishek Singh added that the initiative aligns with a broader vision of reliable and sustainable electricity across Tripura. The partnership with GIZ and RTI International played a key role in achieving these objectives, and the state looks forward to leveraging the pilot programme's outcomes for broader benefits. At the closure workshop, stakeholders from GIZ, RTI International, TSECL, and the Government of Tripura reviewed findings, achievements, and future steps, highlighting the programme's impact on enhancing distribution network efficiency.

TSECL and the Department of Power extended their sincere thanks to GIZ and RTI International for their unwavering support and expertise throughout the programme. The successful completion of this initiative sets a precedent for future efforts aimed at transforming Tripura's power sector, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future for its residents.
