A punitive measure was enforced against a forest officer after eco-friendly huts hindered the passage of Lord Tungnath's palanquin on its winter journey. The huts delayed the revered idol's trek from its Himalayan temple, perched at 12,000 feet, to Makku village.
The obstruction on November 5 caused a five-hour delay, prompting Deputy Forest Officer Kunwar Lal's reassignment as reported by Deputy Forest Conservator Kalyani. The forest department had erected an eco park and tent colony along the traditional route, which blocked the palanquin's movement.
Local activist Anusuya Prasad Malasi criticized the lack of alternative arrangements. The timing of the issue coincides with the Kedarnath Assembly bypoll campaign, adding further tension to the situation.
