Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan is poised to star in the upcoming action thriller 'Fairytale in New York', as announced by Deadline. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander, whose work caught the attention of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group's chair, Adam Fogelson. 'As soon as we watched Sisu, we knew Jalmari was a filmmaker we wanted to work with again. Fairytale in New York is a wildly entertaining, thrill ride of an action film and an emotionally resonant story about family,' commented Fogelson.
Fogelson also highlighted Quan's current career peak, noting, 'Every once in a while, an actor hits their prime--Ke Huy Quan is having that moment right now. His deep experience in crafting action on-screen and behind the scenes, coupled with his exceptional likability, makes him the perfect choice for this project.' Following his Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once,' Quan will headline 'Love Hurts,' an action comedy from Universal Pictures and 87North, set for a February 7, 2025 release, ahead of Valentine's Day.
Ke Huy Quan's recent Oscar achievement reflects his remarkable journey, from his acclaimed performance as a caring husband in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' to becoming only the second performer of Asian descent to win Best Supporting Actor. Known for his roles as a young actor alongside Harrison Ford in 1984's 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' and the 1985 hit 'The Goonies,' Quan took a step back from acting due to the limited substantial roles for Asian actors, a challenge he has successfully overcome.
