A firecracker explosion during a Theyyam performance at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu temple in Neeleswaram has left 154 individuals injured, with eight in serious condition, authorities reported.
The incident, resulting from stored firecrackers igniting during the event, led to police arresting three suspects, including Bharathan and Chandrashekharan, temple committee officials, and Rajesh P, who allegedly ignited the fireworks.
The Special Investigation Team, under Kasaragod District Police chief D Shilpa, is probing the incident amid public outcry and governmental assurances for a thorough investigation to prevent such occurrences in the future.
