An explosion rocked a bustling market in Kabul on Wednesday, injuring 11 people, with children among those affected, according to a nongovernmental organization.
The exact cause of the blast remains undetermined, and no comments have been issued by the Taliban. The explosion hit a second-hand clothes market in the Pamir Cinema district, a densely populated area of the Afghan capital.
Emergency NGO, which operates a surgical center in Kabul, confirmed that the injured include a 3-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy, and a man in critical condition. The market's crowded conditions made the impact particularly severe, with many affected already living in poverty. Extremist attacks have been on the rise since the Taliban assumed power in 2021, typically targeting Taliban forces or the country's Shiite minority.
