In the holy town of Ayodhya, a striking example of interfaith unity is manifesting as Muslims continue to celebrate the Hindu tradition of Ramlila. This practice, active for over six decades, is a beacon of peace and collaboration between communities.

Since 1963, the predominantly Muslim locality of Mumtaz Nagar has embraced the annual Ramlila through the Ramleela Ramayana Samiti, a group established to nurture communal harmony. The event features Muslim artists who skillfully portray characters from the epic Ramayana, with the entire production financially supported and directed by the Muslim community.

Dr. Majid Ali, the present leader, highlights the Ramlila's roots in 1965 spearheaded by his late father, Dr. Wajid Ali, to ensure the festive spirit in the Muslim-majority area is inclusive. The ongoing commitment to this tradition serves as a powerful symbol of enduring communal harmony.
