AR Rahman, celebrated for his ability to transcend language barriers in film music, is ready to receive his latest accolade. The 70th National Film Awards are honoring Rahman with a prize for best background score in the Tamil film 'Ponniyin Selvan I', directed by his frequent collaborator Mani Ratnam.

This award marks Rahman's second achievement in the background score category and his seventh overall National Award. The composer notes his gratitude to God and the filmmakers, particularly Ratnam, for trusting him with their projects. Rahman's career launched with their collaboration on 'Roja', earning him his first National Award over three decades ago.

He is also known for hit songs like 'Dil Se Re..', 'Chhaiyya Chhaiyya', and 'Jai Ho', along with his frequent collaborations with Ratnam, including titles like 'Bombay', 'Guru', and 'O Kadhal Kanmani'. Their latest project is 'Thug Life', starring Kamal Haasan, aiming to recreate their past magic.
