The Indian Embassy in Nepal celebrated the 155th Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday with a special programme that underscored the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava paid floral tribute to the iconic leader, while young singer Saraswati Khatri from the Sur Sudha band performed hymns and musical compositions in Gandhi's honour, according to a statement from the embassy.

Representatives from the Nepal Charkha Pracharak Guthi, a social organisation dedicated to women's upliftment, and Tulasi Smarak Mahagauthi, also joined in the commemorative event. The ambassador took the occasion to felicitate the embassy's sanitation workers for their contributions.

On the preceding day, the embassy held a seminar on 'Swachhata' within its premises. During this event, Ambassador Srivastava also recognised and felicitated students from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kathmandu, who participated in a 'Kavya Pratiyogita' or poetry competition focusing on cleanliness, organised by the embassy.
