In a significant boost to India's music tourism sector, upcoming concerts by British band Coldplay in Mumbai and Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh in Chandigarh, among other cities, have triggered a travel rush among fans.

According to a report by online travel agency ixigo, flight bookings surged by over 300 per cent, underscoring fans' enthusiasm to attend these live performances. Coldplay is set to perform at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium from January 18-21 as part of its 'Music of the Spheres' world tour.

Meanwhile, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh will headline a live concert in Chandigarh in December during his DIL-UMINATI India tour. The report highlighted a 350 per cent year-on-year increase in Mumbai's flight bookings and a 300 per cent rise in Chandigarh. Cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Indore also showed significant YoY growth in flight bookings. The ixigo Group CEO Aloke Bajpai remarked that a notable shift in Indian travelers' preferences towards live performances is evident, with tier II cities showing increased interest through bus travel.
