In a significant push to enhance tourism, the Himachal Pradesh government has revealed plans to introduce Shikaras at Gobind Sagar Lake, an official statement confirmed on Tuesday. The first cruiser boat for the lake arrived last week as part of this initiative.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is set to inaugurate the water sports activities in the third week of October. The equipment, which includes cruise boats, jet skies, motor boats, and rescue boats, has already reached Bilaspur. Official inspections of the equipment were carried out by the tourism department's technical team in Mandi Bharari on Saturday.

Ajay Handa, director of Gandharvi Company, which oversees water sports, announced that the Shikara, priced at approximately Rs 4 lakh, will soon be launched. Ticket prices start at Rs 200 for the Shikara and Rs 900 for the cruise. This tourism initiative aims to make Himachal Pradesh a prime destination for water-based recreational activities, attracting both domestic and international tourists.
