Jairam Ramesh, a prominent Congress leader, bid farewell to his role as Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change on Friday. Despite stepping down, Ramesh remains a member of the reconstituted panel.
In a social media post on platform X, Ramesh expressed his readiness to work with the new Chairperson Bhubaneswar Kalita from the BJP. Notably, Kalita switched from Congress to the BJP in 2019, a move that Ramesh referenced in his remarks.
Kalita's resignation from Congress centered around a dispute over the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir. He is now an active member of the Upper House, succeeding Ramesh in his former role.
