UK PM Keir Starmer to Honor Lord Basaveshwara with British Indian Community

The invitation, extended by Dr. Neeraj Patil on behalf of the Lambeth Basaveshwara Foundation, aims to celebrate the social justice contributions of Lord Basaveshwara, whose statue stands near the British Parliament.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has received an invitation from the British Indian community to pay respects to Lord Basaveshwara, a revered 12th-century poet-saint known for his contributions to social justice and democracy. Community members have reported the invitation.
Dr. Neeraj Patil, a former Mayor of the London Borough of Lambeth, extended the invitation recently on behalf of the British Indian community and The Lambeth Basaveshwara Foundation. The foundation, which facilitated the installation of Lord Basaveshwara's statue opposite the British Parliament, aims to commemorate his values and legacy.
The statue, holding significant importance for the Indian community in the UK, was the first to receive conceptual approval from the British Cabinet in 2013. Notably, it was unveiled by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 14, 2015. The Lambeth Basaveshwara Foundation continues to preserve and promote the teachings and values of Lord Basaveshwara.
