Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday urged the Andhra Pradesh government to probe allegations of impurities in 'laddu prasadam' at Tirupati temple, aiming to safeguard the temple's sanctity and devotee sentiments.
Reddy called for political parties and religious organisations to avoid sensationalising the issue as it involves millions of devotees' sentiments.
Highlighting that news about the desecration of 'prasadam' could undermine devotees' faith, Reddy advocated for restraint and responsible behavior. The minister described the presence of animal fat in the sacred 'prasadam' as an inexcusable crime, calling for tough punishment and preventive actions.
Reddy also alluded to allegations of attempts to promote other faiths in Tirupati, smuggling of liquor and meat to Tirumala, and corruption within the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) reported by the media over the years. He urged the Andhra Pradesh government to ensure the sanctity of Tirumala and respect for devotees' sentiments through robust investigations and punitive measures.
