Harish Gaur, media in-charge of Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, stated on Saturday that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced plans to develop Madmaheshwar Dham, the second Kedar of the Panch Kedars, and to beautify the Maa Gauri temple at Gaurikund, the last motor stop of Kedarnath Dham.
According to Gaur, Ramesh Singh Rawat, Under Secretary, Department of Religious Endowments and Culture, has issued separate orders to the Director of Culture Department for this initiative. The Public Works Department has been designated as the implementing agency responsible for preparing a detailed project report (DPR) in coordination with the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
BKTC President Ajendra Ajay expressed gratitude to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami for approving the development plans. He emphasized that these projects will attract more devotees and pilgrims to Madmaheshwar Dham, thereby creating new employment opportunities for the local community.
Madmaheshwar Dham, situated at an altitude of 3,497 meters in Rudraprayag district, requires a 14 km trek for devotees to reach. It is recognized as the second Kedar of the Panch Kedars, where the navel form of Lord Shiva is worshipped. Similarly, the Maa Gauri temple at Gaurikund serves as a significant stop for pilgrims heading to Kedarnath Dham, with both temples managed by BKTC.
