Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, Iranian Ambassador to India Iraj Elahi has assured tourists that the ongoing conflict with Israel is not a new development and that Iran remains safe for travel. He encouraged visitors to explore Persia's rich historical heritage.
Speaking at the Iran Tourism Roadshow in Delhi, Elahi expressed hopes for more direct flights between India and Iran. Currently, there are two direct flights from Tehran to Delhi and one to Mumbai, and Elahi aims for daily services. He also highlighted Iran's recent visa waiver for Indian tourists, allowing two-week visits without visa stamping on passports.
Elahi emphasized the need to strengthen India-Iran relations, which have deep historical roots. Despite operational challenges, he underscored a mutual strategic willingness to enhance cooperation, particularly in tourism, and noted that cultural exchanges had suffered due to COVID-19 but are set to revive.
