Bollywood Star Malaika Arora's Father Dies by Alleged Suicide in Mumbai

Bollywood actor Malaika Arora's father, Anil Mehta, allegedly died by suicide after jumping off the terrace of his residence in Mumbai, police disclosed on Wednesday. Authorities have recorded statements from Malaika, her sister Amrita Arora, and their mother in connection to the incident.

According to police sources, Anil Mehta had contacted both of his daughters before switching off his phone. In their statements, Malaika and Amrita revealed that their father expressed feelings of exhaustion and despair, stating, 'I am sick and tired.' Attempts to reach him post-call were unsuccessful as he had already turned off his phone.

Investigations revealed that Anil Mehta suffered fractures in his right leg after jumping from the building's balcony. A postmortem report confirmed multiple injuries as the cause of death. Authorities intend to record the statement of Mehta's doctor, along with other close family members.

Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan informed the media about the incident, stating, 'The body of Anil Mehta (62) was found. He resided on the 6th floor. We are conducting a thorough investigation from all angles with forensic teams involved. Prima facie, it appears to be a suicide.' The body has been sent for postmortem.

Malaika Arora was reportedly in Pune when the incident took place and was not present at her father's home. (ANI)
