False Claims of Cracks on Statue of Unity: Case Filed Against Unknown Person
Authorities have filed a case against an unknown individual after a social media post claimed that cracks had appeared on the Statue of Unity, suggesting it could collapse. Authorities have taken action after a post on the social media platform X falsely claimed that the Statue of Unity in Gujarat had developed cracks and could fall any time, according to an official statement on Tuesday.
The alarming announcement was made on the handle 'RaGa4India' on September 8 at 9.52 am. The post, written in Hindi and accompanied by an old photograph from the statue's construction period, has been deleted by the user.
A case was registered under section 353 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for spreading false information and causing public fear. The complaint was lodged by Abhishek Ranjan Sinha, deputy collector of the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority.
