Jinson Anto Charls, a 37-year-old native of Kerala, India, who relocated to Australia in 2011, will be sworn in as a minister of the Northern Territory on Tuesday. This comes shortly after his election to its Parliament, according to his family members.

Charls, nephew of Congress leader and Pathanamthitta MP Anto Antony, won the Northern Territory parliamentary election with a decisive victory from the Sanderson constituency, representing the Country Liberal Party.

Antony shared that Charls is currently the Director of Recovery and Rehabilitation Services at Top End Mental Health and a lecturer at Charles Darwin University. ''He is my younger brother's son. His victory has made us immensely proud,'' Antony remarked.

Charls hails from Moonnilavu in Kottayam district and will serve as the Minister for People, Sport and Culture, Disability, Arts, Youth, Seniors, Equality, Multicultural Affairs, and Veterans in the Lia Finocchiaro-led Cabinet.

Charls won Sanderson with a significant margin, a constituency traditionally held by the Labour Party. His background in healthcare played a crucial role in winning people's trust and overcoming the challenges of being a foreigner.
