Ashok Raj Sigdel Takes Command as New Chief of Nepali Army
President Ramchandra Paudel officially conferred the insignia of the Chief of Army Staff on Ashok Raj Sigdel during a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas. Sigdel, the 45th Commander-in-Chief, will serve a three-year term. Former Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma is on mandatory retirement leave.

In a ceremonious event at Sheetal Niwas, President Ramchandra Paudel officially conferred the insignia of the Chief of Army Staff on Ashok Raj Sigdel, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Nepali Army.
As the supreme commander, President Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sigdel, who then assumed his duties at Jangi Adda. Sigdel becomes the 45th Commander-in-Chief and will lead the army for a tenure of three years.
Previously named as the new army chief on August 28, Sigdel's appointment became effective from September 9. Outgoing Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma, who dedicated four decades to the Nepali Army, has commenced his mandatory retirement leave from August 8.
