Delhi Government Imposes Firecracker Ban to Combat Winter Air Pollution

In an effort to mitigate the surge in air pollution during the coming winter season, the Delhi government on Monday announced a comprehensive ban on the production, sale, and use of firecrackers in the national capital.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai, in a press statement, emphasized that the measure is necessary to prevent the deterioration of air quality further exacerbated by the burning of firecrackers. He highlighted that this ban, effective until January 1, 2025, applies to all types of firecrackers, including those sold online.
Rai added that the government is developing a 'Winter Action Plan' focusing on 21 crucial areas to control pollution. He urged citizens to celebrate festivals responsibly by lighting lamps and sharing sweets instead of using firecrackers, aiming to create a community of 'Pollution Warriors.'
