Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has called on the local heads of Congress and BJP for constructive suggestions to be included in the Winter Action Plan designed to tackle pollution in the capital. Rai's letter to Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav emphasized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's efforts to combat pollution.

In his communication, Rai pointed out that Delhi has observed a 30% decline in pollution over nine years. "The Delhi government has taken stringent measures resulting in more days of good air quality. From 110 days in 2016, the number rose to 206 in 2023. Levels of PM 2.5 and PM 10 pollutants have decreased significantly," Rai stated.

He cited Central Pollution Control Board data, which indicated a 45% reduction in pollution from 2012-14 to 2021-23. The Delhi government has implemented both short-term and long-term strategies to fight pollution, including introducing nearly 2,000 electric buses and ensuring 24-hour electricity to eliminate generator emissions. Additionally, measures like artificial rainfall are being prepared to further combat pollution.
