Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district will soon introduce a range of water sports and new attractions at Govind Sagar Lake and Kol Dam, following the successes seen in Kerala and Goa, officials reported on Sunday.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is scheduled to inaugurate cruises and shikaras on Govind Sagar Lake shortly after September 15, a move anticipated to substantially enhance local tourism, officials added. "Cruises and shikaras are expected to arrive within the next ten to fifteen days. Other amenities, including jet skis, high-tech motorboats, and rescue boats, have already reached Bilaspur," stated Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq.
Planning to make Govind Sagar Lake and Kol Dam the focal points, the Bilaspur administration aims to develop local tourism activities similarly to Kerala and Goa. Sadiq also mentioned that Bilaspur is the first district in Himachal Pradesh to offer such unique attractions. The tourism department has given its official approval for year-round water sports activities at Govind Sagar Lake, enhancing its appeal to tourists.
